So there was a debate in Oregon last weekend. It was aired on C-Span. It featured Richard Perle (a conservative) and Howard Dean (a liberal, current DNC chair). The debate was conducted in front of an audience. There were liberals in the audience.
The debate started with an opening statement from each participant. Richard Perle went first. During his opening statement, Perl said something an audience member disagreed with.
So what did that audience member do? He began shouting contradictions to Perle's statement, and also threw a shoe at Perle.
Howard Dean, take note: You're not aggro enough. Your own party doesn't trust you to help them in any way. They don't trust you to handle yourself well in a debate. They don't even want to sit still and see how you do, before they take matters into their own hands. They wanted to you be President, because they wanted to deliver beatings to Republicans, instead of tyrants. You gave them the impression you were the guy to do it. They made you DNC chairman for the same reason: to deliver beatings.
But it's too late. Your people are too frustrated, too angry, too disillusioned. The time for tough talk is over, Howard Dean. Now is the time for tough action. Anything less than physical violence against the evildoers in the opposition party is unacceptable. The bottom line is, liberals want violence against their enemies, and they don't trust you to get the job done.
So make with the shoe-throwing already.
