Now Get Over It!

I see in the news that both China and South Korea are complaining about Japan. Apparently, both countries have decided that Japan needs to be more apologetic and contrite about its evil imperialistic past.

And it's true, Japan does have a pretty grim past.

But without taking away anything from the grave and awful horrors that Japan has perpetrated in the past, I'd like to point out one thing.

JAPAN HAS BEEN BOMBED WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

Alone of all nations, Japan has receieved within its borders, against its civilian population, Atomic Fucking Bombs.

Not once, but twice.

Hasn't Japan suffered enough, paid enough for its crimes?

As far as I'm concerned, anything Japan did on before Hiroshima and Nagasaki has been cleansed by nuclear fire. China and South Korea need to get over it already. Harboring resentment for past misdeeds is a sure way to cause trouble.

The real question, of course, is why China has decided to make this an issue.

What's so special about atomic weapons?

The Japanese killed MILLIONS in Asia. Often in incredibly cruel and brutal ways. Ever heard of the rape of Nanking? Both Atomic bombs, combined, killed roughly 150,000 people.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Japan. I really admire the Japanese people.  But I don't find the argument that a couple of destroyed cities somehow makes it okay for them to avoid being honest about their past behavior in Asia.

WHile we hear of the Atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the truth of the matter is that in one raid on Tokyo, firebombing killed over 100,000 people.  In Dresdan, it was over 120,000 by the same method.

What was done by one bomb in 2 cities was done by many bombs in several others.  SO before crying about Atomic bombs, just remember:

1: It was war, and one WE did not start.

2: all those people in both Tokyo and Dresdan are just as dead as the ones killed by the one bomb.

There's nothing wrong with China's anger towards Japan, considering Japan has a history of leaving out some bad parts of their history. Trust me when I say Japan is an honor-driven society hence their superior military quality when it comes to the lone individual foot soldier. Japan has a society sometimes based on 'saving face', meaning they don't want to dishonor themselves. Again, thinking in the logical all-encompassing world-wide view, Japan's reluctance to teach their future generations about their atrocity-filled past is their way of saving face, meaning they know what they did was horrible so they don't talk about it. That's their way of apologizing. Of course that's an interpretation. But I have some hands-on knowledge when it comes to the Japanese culture. A white man's culture would claim that talking about it and remembering it helps with the healing and gives us the ability to look deep within our own society. Not so over there. And the atomic line of thinking. While I don't really think being nuked cancels out past atrocities, it does give the Japanese the unfortunate unique distinction in the matter of nuclear holocaust. It's interesting to note how the Jewish people use the Holocaust to further their politics and policies, not to mention for profit, but Japanese haven't milked that nuclear distinction like they could have. Being of yellow origin, it wouldn't have had the same impact since the west has it in their heads that asian life is cheaper than white man's life. Not counting soul-inflation, the ration is at around 50 to 1.

There is a lot of forcing the sons and daughters to atone for the sins of the mothers and fathers going around. All they do is serve to keep wounds open in a world where healing is needed.

I just have a hard time buying that the people of China are suddenly all riled up about Japan's past atrocities. The fish makes a good point, why is this an issue now? It wouldn't have anything to do with Taiwan, would it? Nah, must just be this generation finally got it together enough to get steaming mad about the actions of the last generation. I guess new blood takes a long time to boil?

Apparently the Yellow Man feels the same way about his own people, considering they've killed many times more of their own than the white man ever has.
