Not Conservative, Liberal

I read The Corner, a Conservative group blog.

I read it because it is equal parts relaxed and uptight, frivolous and serious, boring and interesting.

I read it because it consists of constant interaction between several intelligent conservatives who agree on many things, and disagree on many others.

I read it because it's a running commentary on current events.

I read it because of the unique combination of Star Trek references and debate about the core principles of conservatism and their application.

I read it because it's often a good jumping-off point via hyperlinks to the news and opinions of the day.

Are there any liberal blogs out there, solo or group, that provide a similar experience? That debate the fundamentals of liberal philosohpy, and their implications in our daily life?

Where do you liberals on JU get your ideas from? Do you consider yourselves part of a philosophical tradition, building your ideas upon the foundation of good work laid by those who have gone before you? Do you have blogs you read, whose authors discuss the serious issues with grave sincerity, and also discuss frivolous issues with lighthearted good humor?

I keep trying to find those liberal pundits that make sense to me the way these conservatives do, but all I get is The Huffington Post Blog. It's just not working for me. Am I not looking hard enough? Am I too biased to see the thoughtful reasoning that supports these seemingly inane, wrongheaded liberal opinions?

Please, if you have a thoughtful, non-ranty liberal blog that you enjoy reading every day, share it with me! I don't like living in a country full of nutjobs who hate me. If it's my perceptions that are out of true, I'd be happy to change them. Point me to that place on the Internet you believe most capable of reaching me where I am, and sowing the seeds of change in my conservative mind.

Please, no lists of alleged conservative failures. I'm more interested in fundamental principles, their implications, and their applications. The allegations will sort themselves out in time, and mostly forgotten on the ash heap of history. The principles, though, are timeless. What are yours, and which blogger expresses them best?
