Aaah! It's gone all meta!

So it occurred to me that there's phsyics, and then there's metaphysics.

As the prefix "meta-" implies, "metaphysics" is about things that are beyond the power of physics to describe.

Now, through constant study, physics is able to describe more and more things. But it will never be able to describe everything. In fact, advances in the realm of physics depend on logical tools that clearly establish the limitations of science to describe everything.

But that's not my point.

My point is, it occurred to me today that religion is applied metaphysics, and philosophy is theoretical metaphysics.

That is all.

Show's over, folks.

Move along.

Can you elaborate on this?

Heh.

Not really.

And the more I think about it, the less sense it makes.

It looked like a great start.  But tis ok.  Perhaps I will have some insights.  Altho the hard sciences are my realm, so I rarely venture into the meta or philosophical.

This is a very interesting point. I think this is also the case and point of why we have such contraversy of what sciences to teach (ie evolution, creationism, Intelligent Design). Superb epiphany if I may say so myself.
