This whole Jeff Gannon thing is nothing more than shenanigans perpetrated by Karl Rove. First, he planted Jeff Gannon in the White House press room. This was an amazingly stupid move, as Gannon couldn't possibly survive any kind of serious scrutiny. He was so obviously a fake, Rove must have known he would be found out soooner or later. Being a master of political timing, however, Rove was confident that he could manage the scandal to his own benefit. And he was right, as we shall see....
So I had a great idea for a new cartoon: Kim Jong Illin' It would be one part The Monkees, one part Scooby Doo, and one part Pinky and The Brain. In each half-hour episode, The Dictator of Hip-Hop would attempt to launch his nuclear missiles at The Man. And every time, something would prevent him from realizing his dream. In the pilot episode, his Missile Command center would be overrun by zombies; an unintended consequence of the poison gas tests he was conducting on his posse...
This gentleman explains that his tranformation is part of his "[Native American] Indian background as a member of the Huron and Lakota tribes... Following an ancient Huron tradition, Avner said he is changing himself into his totem of a tiger." According to the article: That explains the catlike tattoos that cover his face and body, the surgery that split his lip and the implants he had placed in his forehead to shape his face more like that of an animal. It's why he has metal studs ...
It appears that terrorist attacks are way up in Afghanistan. On the other hand, Afghanistan recently booted its Islamofascist dictatorship, and held successful democratic elections. I wonder if there's a connection? And while I'm at it, could it be that terrorism was once much lower in Afghanistan because the terrorists considered Afghanistan to be under their control? Could it be that the terrorists have started operating in Afghanistan now, because the elections have clearly demo...
I see in the news that both China and South Korea are complaining about Japan. Apparently, both countries have decided that Japan needs to be more apologetic and contrite about its evil imperialistic past. And it's true, Japan does have a pretty grim past. But without taking away anything from the grave and awful horrors that Japan has perpetrated in the past, I'd like to point out one thing. JAPAN HAS BEEN BOMBED WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS. Alone of all nations, Japan has receieved w...
Let's get a few things straight. There are doctors who make mistakes. There are doctors who lie. There are politicians that make mistakes. There are politicians that lie. There are husbands that care. There are husbands that don't care. There are, likewise, parents at both ends of the spectrum. For every expert you bring out to support your position, they will bring out an expert to suppor their position. For every reasonable argument you use to discredit their expe...

I am cranky, JoeUser. This post, expressing the crankiness, may be safely dismissed as a troll. So let me get this straight: For over a generation now, a central message of the Democratic party has been that Republicans hate the poor and wouldn't mind seeing them all dead (or enslaved in concentration camps, or both). For at least that long, "everybody" has known that New Orleans was in severe danger of catastrophic flooding, due to an inadequate flood control system. So the poo...
More evidence that the the French suck: New Orleans. Now, I'm not saying it's a bad idea to build a city below the water line of the nearest large bodies of water. I mean, the Dutch managed to put an entire country below the water line, once, and they've been doing just fine ever since. But note the key difference between Holland and New Orleans. Holland was set up by the Dutch. New Orleans was set up by the French. Moral of this story: We Americans need to stop taking advice ...
So it looks like soldiers are reenlisting in greater numbers than ever, but less civilians are choosing to enter the military for the first time. I think this is pretty interesting. What it tells me is that the people who have the best, personal, first-hand information on what it's like to be a soldier, and what it's like in Iraq, are quite willing to sign up for more of the same. Meanwhile, those people who get their information about the military and about Iraq secondhand, from the...
So it looks like I was wrong about the whole Able Danger thing (my article ). The issue is a lot more complex and inconclusive than I thought, and the implications aren't really clear yet. I apologize for mouthing off when I should've kept the ol' pie hole shut. That is all. Carry on.
So let me get this straight: The Department of Defense had solid intelligence on the 9/11 hijackers, including names and photographs, well in advance of the hijacking. The DoD tried to communicate this intel to the FBI, but were prohibited from doing so by a Justice Dept. regulation. The FBI was never notified, and (obviously) no action was ever taken. The 9/11 Commission was briefed on this, but did not include it in their report. One of the 9/11 Commissioners was the author ...

The Democratic Underground has latched on to a "controversial" analyst's prediction that oil could rise to $100 per barrel by this Winter. "And George does nothing", they say. My prediction: George will continue to do nothing, and oil will not rise to $100 per barrel in the next six months. But that's just me.
So gasoline prices have been going down in my city over the last couple of weeks. Quite a bit, too. And people say that Bush never solves any problems!
